WE ❤️ YOU! - "High Tea at Half Past Three" was held on April 16th to show our appreciation and give thanks to Cascade Park staff, volunteers, FoCPL members and special guests.

Trashion Show - Cascade Park hosted the Conscious Consumption series' fourth annual Trashion Show on May 2nd. Designers, models, family, and friends eagerly gathered to view this year's 'Fashion with a T' entries - trash items redirected and transformed into ready to wear garments and accessories.

This year's creative designs included a summer dress using newspaper under  bubble-wrap. See more Trashion photos on CPCL'S  Facebook page.

Special thanks to the three judges, including Stephanie Sanchez (FoCPL), who had the difficult task of judging the 14 participants, ages 4 and older, on Creative Use of Materials, Originality, Craftsmanship and Overall Look.

Library Matters...

New Library Hours - As promised during the passage of the levy lid lift, as of June 1st, expanded Library hours will be: Monday through Thursday 10-8 and Friday through Sunday, 10-6.

The district wants consistency across the district including district-wide staffing. At CPCL, data (door counts, circulation stats, etc.) will be watched closely to assess the impact of adding eight hours on Sunday and reducing one hour per day during the week.

Similarly, FoCPL will monitor bookstore activity. More critically, Linda McHan, Bookstore Manager, will be making adjustments for coverage with her crew of volunteers. Other volunteers will adjust their weekly behind-the-scenes work to the new open hours.

Statement to FVRL Trustees - FoCPL's approved Statement to the FVRL Trustees was read at the April 20th trustees monthly meeting held at the Washougal Public Library during the public comments time. Thank you to Board Officers, Jean Kent and Stephanie Sanchez, for delivering our message.

Of the 12 public statements, five primarily concerned the Trustees' conduct in November regarding the strategic plan. Other pressing matters included the change in library hours and the Washougal Library building plans.

The public comment period offers the trustees a quick pulse of the FVRL community, unfailingly displaying sincerity, humor, astuteness and deep appreciation for libraries.

The Trustees Monthly Meeting Schedule provides links for attending the hybrid meeting or watching a recorded video. NOTE: Use  the closed-caption and meeting transcript options to compensate for the audio quality.

Library Support - Since the last newsletter, Friends also supported the well-attended Rhys Thomas Jugglemania, Seed to Supper, Poetry and Pizza, Library Workers Day with a Staff Recognition lunch, and a Farewell to a departing Security Guard.
