JOIN US!  Cute little goats drew visitors to the library on June 18th.

FoCPL hosted a concurrent GOAT HAPPY HOUR in the Community Room offering mocktails and snacks, and a pop-up booksale.

Visitors talked with Friends to learn about FoCPL activities in support of the library. 23 people signed-up to receive the FoCPL e-newsletter.

MINI-ART FESTIVAL - 100 blank mini canvases were quickly claimed in the first few days of May for the inaugural CPCL Mini-Art Festival. Participants had a month to complete and return their finished masterpieces.

Based on the enthusiastic response, Bonny C., Librarian and event organizer, confirms that this will become an annual festival and return next May.

Julie N., FoCPL, served as one of the three judges who were challenged by the  diverse entries to award ribbons and other prizes to the artists in each age group.

Library Matters...

FoCPL Board Action Highlights - Friends Connect, the FoCPL newsletter, will now be made available to anyone interested. A QR Code and a few printed copies will be available in the Bookstore. Visitors to our website homepage can also quickly see news of current activities with a click of a button.

CPCL staff have an ongoing offer from FoCPL to help with the library’s programs and activities. Melissa W., FoCPL Vice-President, will be the contact for this newsletter's 'Calling on Friends’ section, below.

Recent FoCPL Library Support - Mini Art Festival winner gift-cards (to Michaels Crafts); an all-staff lunch to celebrate library staff anniversaries (including a 15th anniversary) and to launch the implementation of new working hours/new FVRLibrary hours; and Summer Reading Program support (felt for Summer Reading Wall display, bookstore coupons for teen and adult participants, and help passing out refreshments at the June 23rd Kick-off).

SUMMER READING PROGRAM - This year's Summer Reading Program is for EVERYONE including a special teen and adult challenge. Whether or not you officially sign up, this year’s program is fun and geared to challenge you to do something that takes you out of your same ol' same ol' library routine:

  • Borrow something that's not a book
  • Try a new format (audio, graphic, print)
  • Read a recommended book
  • Choose a book by its cover
  • Read something on a library display
  • Read a book by a BIPOC author
  • Create something based on a book
